the shipping co lunch..

today went to the station kitchen at st james powerhouse for lunch.. i had planned to treat the shipping co team to lunch today.. and we were initially heading towards vivo city sushi teh.. on the drive towards vivo, tw suggested this place at st james which none of us had tried before.. and we weren't even sure whether it was open for lunch.. but we went ahead to find out

reached there and it was open.. this place at the side of the building.. which had like 3 different kinds of food.. prata.. din tai fung.. and charcoal.. haha.. the food works the same way as the clubs there i guess.. so many varieties to choose from.. we settled for the charcoal and when we got seated inside, we realised that the 3 different kinds of food served were actually all under the same management..

the concept at "charcoal" was self bbq-ing the food.. which turned out to be pretty good.. we had to split tables though.. cos each table could onli fit max 5 pple.. and we had like 11 pple.. so split 3 tables..

the above pic was taken with my phone.. cos my camera batt died on me.. i dun think the batt life for the T10 is veri good.. seems to run out relli fast..

this was the soup.. haha.. forgot to take pic lah.. before it was drunk up.. found it abit too salty though..

this the tissue prata we ordered as an appetizer from the prata section.. nice.. didnt taste oily.. not like those that we eat at the normal prata stalls..

the stove which we cooked the food on.. 2 stoves per table..

for the main course we ordered 2 sets of the meal for 5.. and asked them to customize it for 11 pple..

ok.. now comes the difficult part.. cos at the beginning of the meal.. we didnt relli know what we were eating.. im gonna try to match it with the menu now..

above and below is a combination of the superior snowflake pork (which the waitress had recommended as a must try.. as it melts in the mouth.. but guess it wasnt that fantastic.. cos we relli couldnt recall eating pork), the chicken thigh, the gigot and the superior beef tongue (the beef tongue is that round round one in the pic below.. recall the time when i went with at, cl, mx, ys and sc to eat that beef buffet at keypoint)

the above is the rice with tea with baked salmon.. was quite nice and mild.. but its funny why they put wasabi at the edge of the bowl.. how to eat wasabi with porridge?

the yogurt calpis drink which was quite special.. but i cant remember its taste now..

the kimchi which was damn spicy!!

haha.. had to take this pic lah.. cos they are in my direct view.. buddy.. ur qin ai de :)

the buttered shitake mushroom soup.. which i felt was the nicest dish..

food that i cooked!!! haha :) cos we ordered this additional beef fillet dish outside of the set.. and i cooked it.. 3 pieces of them.. veri well cooked i must say.. for someone who doesnt know how to :)

this the marbled beef which came somewhere at the end.. we didnt even know that it was coming.. and so many pieces of them too.. was quite nice too.. as nice as the beef fillet..

tw and tts cooking :) tw cooks at home.. but i dun think tts does.. haha.. but he says he is good at bbq-ing..

the fire from my stove :) they keep catching fire.. but this wired mesh on top is relli good.. cos u can hold the corners and its not hot.. in fact.. its cold.. but it gets burnt easily.. cos they had to help us change it a number of times..

overall a nice meal with nice company.. apparently they have valentine's day specials.. so can check it out.. one of the shipping co assistants oredi planning to bring his gf there liaoz.. but not very romantic to eat self bbq food on valentine's day leh ;)
